Our goal for the day was to hike to the top of the tallest dune of  the Eureka Sand Dunes in northern Death Valley. The Eureka Dunes peak at over 700ft high and are called "Booming Dunes" because of a rumbling sound that is made when you walk on them. This is really cool to experience. While walking on the crest of a dune, as we would step, the ground would make a low frequency rumbling sound, felt like a subwoofer was hidden under the sand!
We had hiked over halfway up the dunes when high winds came in, but we were almost to the top and no sand storm was going to stop us. We ended up covered in sand, but we made it!
